Introduction to LifeSpace Heaters
A lot is made in the argument between carbon and ceramic heaters. We spent 16 months prior to opening our first store living in Asia, where we evaluated 18 different factories (only two of which met all of our criteria for quality and ethical manufacturing) and torture tested both ceramic and carbon heaters while building our own prototypes.
Despite all the confusing claims, both ceramic and carbon will work and provide you with the health benefits you are looking for. That being said, there are bad quality ceramic and carbon and good quality ceramic and carbon. As a consumer, it's hard to tell the difference, though price is one indication.
We have nothing against quality ceramic heaters and the benefits they provide, but we presently only carry carbon for the following reasons:
Longevity
Poor quality ceramic or carbon will last around 1000 hours. Presently, great quality ceramic lasts around 3000 hours. Our heaters have never had a failure and are rated to last 50,000 hours.
Coverage
Many of the health benefits from a sauna come from vassal dilation. Carbon heaters provide 6 times the coverage and offer a floor heater which is fantastic to ensure full body coverage.
Low EMF
We offer a full line-up of low EMF saunas (each unit is individually tested and has to be below 3mg)
Testing
Our heaters have a lifetime factory warranty. We also have spectral analysis reports available for our heaters.
Clinical Work
Our saunas are used in numerous clinics and individual patient results match those of the scientific studies.
Thicker Panels
Our Tongue and Groove wood panels are 25% thicker than most of the industry (walls will not bend or flex)
No Plywood
Our saunas contain absolutely no plywood (industry standard is 3-4 sheets). (The concern with plywood is the presence of urea formaldehyde.)
Responsible Wood Sourcing
Wood is kiln dried to 6-8% moisture content and our hemlock and cedar are sourced from Canada
Our floors and ceilings are significantly stronger and won't flex, nor will you need to add reinforcements when you are constructing or moving the unit.
Tool-Free Assembly
...And there are no buckles or clasps to interfere with the look of the sauna.
Quality Assurance
In addition to extensive factory testing, we also have our own Quality Assurance personnel review and test each sauna before shipping.
We've compiled extensive research on the health impact of infrared therapy - just click on the topic you're interested in, and ask if you have any questions.
Infrared saunas are particularly well-suited for medical use because:
Direct Heat Transfer
Heat is directly absorbed into the tissues, which raises the body's core temperature and induces a powerful sweating response.
Comfortable
Because of direct heat transfer, interior air can remain cooler even while your body is heating up inside - people find it easier to breath and less stressful than conventional saunas. People find they stay in longer, more relaxed and use their infrared sauna much more often.
Practical to use
Infrared saunas are smaller, easier to install, and require less maintenance and electricity than traditional saunas.
